Amazingly enough, even though these past several bogs have been repetitious, I am still enjoying constructing this quilt. I think a new colorway every couple days is the trick. It seems to keep me eager to see what will come next.
Here are the completed boxes of the magenta/turquoise/yellow colorway. Whoops, one is upside down in the picture. Well, it doesn't matter. It is not sewn into anything yet.
Here are the churn dash blocks and their complements. I love the magenta batik and it seems to handle both yellow and turquoise churn dashes equally well.
And here are the six assembled blocks. Fortunately they all seem to have good contrast. That magenta batik sure keeps your eye moving!
Ah, yes. I did repair that rotated HST from Colorway 3.
I have finished cutting out the final Colorway 5. I am dubious about its contrast effectiveness. But, hey, varying levels of contrast encourages your eye to wander. This is good for quilts but not good for husbands.

ReplyDeleteI love that multicolor print that shows up in some of the purple-backed blocks. The blue is also a very pretty blue, and I am super excited to see how they come together. That's an interesting point about all the varied colors keeping the quilt interesting. I know I am not a fan of more complicated blocks simply because I get tired of doing the same thing over and over, so I'll have to try it with a more varied palate and see if it still gets on my nerves :-) Still loving reading about the progress!
