ASSESSMENT OF HOW WELL I MET MY 2022 GOALS

My overall intentions were to continue to be a closet quilter by making items from fabric and kits in my closet and tools in my drawers While closeted away I would continue to interface remotely with the community. Along those lines I did accomplish these specifically cited, targeted tasks:
  • Completed Moda Midnight Crossing kit and named it X Marks the Spot
  • Audited my kits; did not publish a summary post because quantity too embarrassing
  • Practiced Handi Quilter and Good Measure quilting templates on several quilts
  • Consolidate scraps by gathering them but as yet have not sorted
  • Publish three blog books
  • Attended over 80% of guild meetings via Zoom
  • Displayed quilts monthly for twelve months
  • Crocheted a cardigan for my granddaughter
My two weakest areas were scrap management and kit restraint.
  1. Scraps organization could have use some more effort so I would have been able deploy them in quilts. But truthfully, I am more interested in making up kits I've bought rather than sewing scrap quilts.
  2. Although intending to make up more Kits this year than I purchased, I fell short of this goal. Of the eight quilts I've made in 2022, only one was from a closet kit, although two others were from stash layer cakes which can be interpreted as pseudo-kits. The other five were from stash fabrics. I did buy four more kits this year, in March/November/December. I was very restrained for the majority of 2022 until two end-of-the-year online bargains were irresistible! I will reflect this self-knowledge in my revised scrap and kit goals for 2023.

  1. Looks like a somewhat restrained number of quilt completions this year, but lots of good side projects got done! And I love seeing the recap of all the quilts you've hung! It does look like you met most of your goals -one way or another - and let's be honest, if you met them all you'd be criticizing yourself for not being more ambitious! I think kits are better stash-busters than scraps are (if nothing else, you save time not having to curate them or work around unanticipated shortages), and I'm curious to know what end-of-year bargains you caved on!
