Here are my accomplishments for 2020, followed by pictures and headings only. Details are in my past posts as indicated by a clickable completion date after each name. My own assessment of how well I met my 2020 goals is after the pictures of completions. Much has been said about how bad 2020 was. For goal achievement within the DianeLoves2Quilt realm, 2020 was the full portion of the proverbial half empty / half full glass.

My goals for 2020 were simple and numbered only three. I made an effort to assure they were measurable so I would have some sense of if I'd achieved them. Metrics were defined as: shows attended, classes taken, large quilts completed. When the Covid pandemic hit the scene, I had lots more time to sew yet I had to make adjustments as to what constituted completion and how to interpret the metrics. All three goals were met.
FUN: Sew and blog for fun, not guilt; attend shows for inspiration.GROWTH: Try one or two new creative crafts; try out at least one workshop or classSATISFACTION: Complete at least one large quilt.
√ FUN: Avoiding sewing for guilt was not 100% achievable. I sewed masks for family members and friends and neighbors more out of obligation than fun; but there was still a sense of accomplishment in doing so. I chose not to blog about mask production because it was a community service and I did not view it as a creative endeavor. Perusing through my completions for 2020 I realize I did have a lot of fun, though. I love assembling the fabric combinations for burp cloths and pillowcases so that's why I make so many of them. Attending shows for inspiration was not possible due to social distancing and travel restrictions but I sure spent a lot of time online looking at virtual inspiration. Our quilt guild began a practice of Hang Your Quilt Day each month and I participated for all nine months. With pandemic adjustment for the definition of show attendance, this goal was met.
√ GROWTH: I did squeeze in two painting classes, Barn Quilt in January and Mandala rocks in February before Covid hit in March. I am glad I was proactive on working on this goal early in the year. I have also watched several FMQ videos on YouTube and tried out new ruler work. Goal met.
√ SATISFACTION: Quarantining in place has its benefits. I completed three large quilts that had been hanging on for a while: Whirligiggles in March, Fifty Shades of Taupe in June, and Masquerade (begun in 2011) in October. I was also pleased to have started and completed six other smaller quilts throughout 2020. Goal met and exceeded!
